- Get it
- Get sick from it
- Pass it on to others
- Still die from it
That is NOT herd immunity. Period.

That's the CDCs new definition. Neither that nor the old one allows for the very substantial amount of inherent immunity in the population. Think about that: if only 30% of the population had this immunity, and it may be more, that is a huge variable in estimating infectiousness and morbidity.
