Yes, some companies do that. I used to work at an office that gave you up to 16 hours off paid to do volunteer work in the community. Our whole office volunteered one afternoon to work at God's Kitchen, sorting out food donations and stocking shelves in their storeroom.
Local VFWs always need help. Groundskeeping, fish frys, bingo nights, etc. All you have to do is walk in and ask to volunteer.
