Looks like lymph node swelling behind the ear.

If I'm particularly run down, I sometimes have a similar reaction.

Not a doctor, so if anyone has more experience, please correct me.

Can't be a good sign if people are otherwise healthy...

That's where the hairdresser would do a "skin test" of the dye.
