@Dovregubben, you may soon be able to (maybe already?) understand that the Ten Commandments become also ten, wonderful, beautiful promises, as we grow in right relationship with our Precious Heavenly Father.

Note from God: "Stealing? LOL! Why would you? I love you! I will provide for you - everything you need! You shall NOT steal! You will rejoice in my provision! Sure, you'll need to work but so WHAT? I will help you find meaningful and joyful work!" (You can apply this to all ten; and you WILL!)

And, remember: repentance means 'turning from the old/failed and going the better way'. John the Baptist told us to "repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is near." People in 1st century Israel were living in fear (much like today?). Dear JTB may have been telling them to "STOP BEING AFRAID! STOP BEING MANIPULATED BY FEAR!" The joy of God (in Christ) is among us!
