Check that link out. I don't know if it's just special effects but it looks pretty realistic to me. If this is "just special effects" then someone should make a video and give themselves reptilian eyes. Someone try to debunk it before saying "this is fake".
Yes, the depth of research on some topics is insane (watch the one about the old "flight of the navigator" movie) and he is pretty much a blender god it seems. He strikes me as a bit of an autist in the 4chan sense and is like you said has his own entertaining style that must have come to him on a peyote trip.
