'Jesus is not on the cross anymore' --- True.
But the physical cross that he was on isn't standing either. So why wear a cross?
Simple answer. Because it symbolizes the greatest gift ever given to mankind.
The body is no longer on the cross, and the cross itself is no longer standing.
But we revere both. Each is a reminder of the gift.
I'll add that when we look at the crucifix we are reminded of how deep his love was for us and reminded how deep our love should be.
History's best example of sacrificial love.
It's a lower case T which means 'time to leave'
Gotta dress up as ghosts to scare the joggers.
Symbolism. It's important. Jesus isn't on the cross and neither should an image if His body be. C'mon man. That is a Catholic thing. They're steeped in idolatry disguised as holiness.
I'm no longer 'at the altar' on my wedding day. Should I destroy all my wedding photos?
If you had any statues depicting your marriage and you worshiped them would be a more relevant example. Catholic?
Do you know anyone who 'worships' a crucifix? (Answer: No.)
A crucifix, a cross, wedding pictures --- are all reminders. No one 'worships' any of them.
