Howdy and welcome to Texas. We're glad to have y'all here. However, there are some issues we need to address if you want to keep peace with the locals.
-
In Texas, the speed limit signs indicate the lowest acceptable speed. We understand this is not the case in whatever garbage heap you came from, but you're not there anymore.
-
On the highway, the left lane is for passing and hauling ass only. Do not do the speed limit in the left lane. The minimum speed in the left lane is about 80mph. The right lane is for doing the speed limit and each lane left of that increases in speed the farther you get over.

This one applies to everyone, even Texans: Get off your damn phone while you're driving. This causes traffic because no one can seem to operate their accelerator and phone at the same time.

Speed up to pass people. For the love of god, don't try to pass someone who is going 60 at 62mph. This usually starts a line of what I like to call "pace cars". It's just annoying.
If you can follow these simple rules, we will not hate you; but for god's sake, some of y'all are wearing out your welcome.
As a lifetime Texan, I wholeheartedly disagree with this. Speeding in Texas is incredibly out of hand. I understand maybe on the interstate between Houston and San Antonio or Austin...but the speeding in inner city highways and commercial streets is ridiculous. If my wife wasn't such a defensive driver, we'd be in a dozen plus accidents. Our accidents per year statistics prove it. It's even worse in the ethnic neighborhoods, where people are not only speeding but not using blinkers and having NO insurance. It's absolutely ridiculous. And there's no point to some of our roads being so scenic if you can't even enjoy a cruising speed. I wouldn't waste a dollar buying a nice touring car or a convertible since I'd never actually get to enjoy it properly. The world is NOT the autobahn.
