I've been keeping getting messages saying I'm offline. Checked everything else, i.e. pinging to some sites, loading some sites, tracerouting and ran Speedtest.net and everything's great.
Apparently it's YouTube being partially down and I'm seeing on several "Down Detectors" saying they have similar issues as I am having with being "offline".
Anyone experiencing this as well? This has been going on pretty much all day so is this going to lead to something bigger soon?
I'm not having any issues with youtube. Denver co, I'm using my phone though.
This is on desktop. Haven't tried phone mode yet.
Yea I figured thats why I said I was on my phone. I will go try in a few minutes and let you know.
I think I got it figured out... YouTube apparently have me partially banned from doing anything on there. Won't even allow me to turn subtitles on, won't let me see comments and if I pause video, it will automatically say I'm offline.
Opened the same video in incognito mode and not signed in, I'm able to run the video fine, turn subtitles on with no problems and see the comments. I think this is related to my account... Wow...
Try quitting and relaunching your browser. Try a different browser. I find that "Brave" currently works best for video sites. Firefox can be a pig.
The browser I use daily is Brave and I do have Firefox as the alternative browser. I've already restarted browser, restarted my computer because I applied some updates from the Linux repositories and still nothing.
I believe I've figured it out. I'm partially banned on YT. On my account, I can't see comments, use subtitles and I get a message saying I'm offline.
Tried the same video in another browser without signing in at all. I now can see comments, can use subtitles and I'm not being told I'm "offline".
So clearly this is an account issue, not something to do with YouTube...
Thanks for the suggestion tho!
What is this...Youtube I keep hearing ao much about? Is that the website that will let you post videos as long as those videos don't contain any truth?
Yeah I hate YouTube as well but it's literally the only website that will allow me to watch videos with subtitles. Bitchute, Rumble, Vimeo and many other video hosting sites don't have subtitles unless it's baked in the videos.
Not many options I have here. :(
You might reach out to those sites and suggest they raise their game on subtitles. You never know, it might encourage them to improve that aspect of their service
Can't you install a speech-to-text App on your computer?
