That is pretty accurate. I remember reading a number of years ago that there is roughly 10 minutes of advertising for every 20 minutes actual programming that you watch.
once they get you hooked on a show they do more and more commercial time as the series progresses through the season.
The other thing I have noticed is that the commercials tend to be more bunched up towards the end. You get reeled in the beginning with no breaks to the storyline and when you are into the story and waiting for the climax, they will do commercials like every seven minutes (and the same ones over and over).
This is the beauty of a DVR though; once that starts to happen, I just hit pause, go do something for 10 minutes and then start watching again and FF through all the garbage. Usually I end up at the same time the program does had I let the commercials run.
