During summer 2016 my elderly Japanese mother-in-law made a random comment about “The things that Trump guy says sort of make sense.” And I found myself sort of gently pooh-poohing her b/c everybody knew that that guy was crazy…

But then I realized that I had no idea why I thought that guy was crazy. I'd been avoiding the news myself, so where the hell did that idea even come from? So I began the process of looking into where I was being unconsciously influenced.

That was the same election when I reluctantly realized I couldn't vote for Hillary b/c she would double down on all the SJW stuff of the previous 5 years, so I was on the edge of going to the Trump side myself. This experience, seeing that I’d had opinions magically installed into my head, helped.
