Here you go—make that Lamy happy!

https://youtu.be/9uWXrcTuzJE

My handwriting always noticeably improves whenever I force myself to write just below the threshold of "Why am I writing this slowly? This is gonna take forever!"

Not an expert at all on it, but my understanding has always been that he was likely offed. The idea that it might have actually been natural causes never seemed likely, especially with his son also suddenly dying at 28.

The assumption was that it was for revealing too much accurate kung-fu stuff to the masses, which until then (late 60s-early 70s) had been mostly under the table/misrepresented via fake-o movie stunts.

But I don't really know.

Most still haven't even been sentenced yet. They're just sorta locked up b/c "bad."

Excluding the one (easily excisable for certain markets) "Look, gay!" "Yay, gay!" 30-second scene, the movie was perfectly fine. Had a lot of entertaining elements in it.

The most striking thing was that it wasn't a 2nd weekend drop-off due to bad word of mouth like so many recent movies, but rather that there was no word of mouth in the first place because nobody went to see it the first weekend.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods opened on the same weekend as Marvel's Black Widow, which could have split the audience's attention.

ChatGPT is a bit out of the loop. Its primary training ended in mid 2021 so it has a tendency to make a lot of weird errors around issues involving timing, like movies.

Not having a cause of death means one of two options:

  1. "I have no idea why she died. WTF would I write?"
  2. "I know why she died, but no way in hell I'm writing that down."

By putting himself out there publicly this way, when the truth about the vax eventually comes out into the mainstream, Trump and the people who feel betrayed will now be positioned on the same side. "They" weren't fooled—"We" were fooled.

He's saying the mainstream things that make us over here cranky, but positioning himself to be on the side of the people when the SHTF.

Everyone wakes up at their own pace, and everyone looks back on their own previous naiveté with more than a bit of chagrin. (And we look at the still-unawake and wonder how they can look at the same things we're seeing and still not see it.)

The good part of the current wacky-ass world is that it's a beautiful system for waking more and more people up.

You can put down a rabid, dangerous animal without the additional, independent step of cultivating a wellspring of hatred inside yourself. You just do what needs to be done.

It's so easy to wallow in hatred. The stories we tell each other so quickly default back to holding onto grudges and injuries and taking revenge for them, that we even begin to think that somehow without hatred, we aren't able to take action at all.

"Don't hate this person."
"So you're saying we should just let them do what they're doing?!"

Taking care of what needs to be taken care of is mandatory in life, but indulging your lower emotions while you do it is entirely optional.

Conservatives cheered when former Disney CEO Bob Chapek stepped down last month.

Then conservatives haven't been paying attention. Bob Iger created the current ultra-woke Disney. Chapek was fighting against it, and Hollywood hated him for it, until they kicked him out.

Iger was the one who hired all of the woke department heads, who then hired countless woke underlings, who created all of the woke programming we're seeing today. Literally 100% of what we've been seeing has been projects green-lit during Iger's CEO time, including Strange World and the upcoming Indiana Jones movie. It takes years for projects to complete, and none of Chapek's projects (like Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3) are even close to completion yet.

Bob Iger coming back is the reassertion of woke from the top down.

For context, Jiang's faction has been the other of the two main factions vying for power in China. Often whenever something would come up to make Xi look bad, it was the Jiang faction behind it, and vice versa. Always working behind the scenes to undermine the other.

Don't know what they'll do now that their focal point is gone, though it's not like him dying would have been a surprise.

Jiang is the guy who started the persecution, detaining and organ harvesting etc of the Falun Gong meditation people. So an overall "lovely person."

Seriously, what kind of fire annihilates only the front ends of an entire line of cars?

I'm getting "forest fires not forest fires" vibes from this.

Okay fair enough. But what's your step two? Put your eggs in Google's basket? I don't use Google for my web searches, much less trust them with my phone's data.

Apple sucks big hairy donkey balls admittedly, but we don't really have any good options here.

Yeah, it limits the AirDrop functionality of being able to receive files from everyone (including people not in your contacts list) to a 10-minute stretch after tapping the button to enable it. Instead of the current state of it being one of the three options "Off" "Contacts" and "Everyone" (←continually on).

Arguably this is an overall "safer" setting, but it's awfully convenient that they're altering this existing functionality, starting first in China before rolling it out globally, just as Chinese dissidents are starting to use it for effective information sharing during this civil unrest.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

I've read most of his books, so when I watch this I'm going to have to keep reminding myself that it's (presumably) designed for people who haven't read them.

Otherwise I can already see myself going, "Yeah I know that, yeah I know that too... Gee this series has nothing new, how disappointing!" When it's not really meant for me. A different medium reaches different people.

This part is particularly interesting, but needs clarification as to what it means:

Last summer, Vandersteel received her passport recognizing her state national status. She now has limited diplomatic immunity, and no longer pays income tax.

Ignoring the income tax part, exactly what kind of passport is this? What is an official "state national status" and what form does it take on a passport? Pictures would help.
