Your cell phone is listening and everyone has one. You old kitchen phone's mouth piece was on even when the phone was hung up. Alexa is no different and to people like my wife who is wheelchair bound it helps he turn on lights or a fan etc.

Wrong. I don't have a cell phone. I've never had a phone in the kitchen either.

My lamp is beside my chair, and I have a remote control for the AC.
