not only a shared stage but an hour long face to face 1 on 1 interview where general flynn said "I love this guy!" near the end of it as if it was the 1st time he ever listened to Alex.

This was long before Q came along. Very personable guy, commanding presence without exuding arrogance. His intellect is what gives him his magnetism - the right words, no more, no less. He's totally legit as a master tactician and strategist.
