Yeah, that's true about defeating Nazi Germany. I think part of the reason we came at the end is because we were also fighting in the Pacific theater against the Japanese and they lasted longer than the Nazis and were closer to home for us to fight.
I'm more talking about the beaches of Normandy which is considered a turning point in the war for the US, but I'm not sure how big that turning point was against what Russia did that led to that final push against Berlin. Russians were on our side in that war but their part is discreetly left out of American History because they're the bogeyman.
