This is a double edged sword I’m not really sure we want though. The IRS already harasses the good guys pretty bad. Imagine how easy it would be for “independent” auditors to cause hell for people like Gaetz or MTG. I think we should all expect any “independent” organization to be corrupted within a few years if it has the potential to increase their relative power.
