It's weird, i've gotten a lot of these notices urging me to get this coverage which would pay off my mortgage in the chance that i die, or have sudden illness, or chronic illness or disability. I've never before gotten anything like it and now i'm getting multiple letters a day with "DEATH" "ILLNESS" "DISABILITY" plastered in huge letters. Been living in this house 6-7 years and never before got something like this. It's like the mortgage company is expecting a huge die-off. Kinda creepin' me out. Especially because it's like every day i have a letter like that in the mail.

They take your monthly payments, then fold up and declare bankruptcy when it all goes down. No money is paid out.
It’s because you just bought a home or refinanced. That information is public record and insurance companies use this information to advertise to you. If you fill out the card an agent will call within the week. These are not from your lender.
I did just refinance.
I don't know anything about these recent mailings, but I will say that when we bought our home back in the early 70s we added mortgage insurance for a very modest sum rolled in with our monthly mortgage payment. Later we had three children and it gave us peace of mind that if anything ever happened to either of us, the house would be paid off. It happened much too soon. My husband died very suddenly in his 40s. From that day on I knew my kids and I would have a place to live. It may not apply to everyone but I was so glad that we chose to do that.
It’s a marketing ploy—they know how many people are afraid of dying right now. Propaganda is relentless—not wearing a mask is like being a “murderer”. Not getting the vaxx—more death.
We mortgaged our first home in 1978. We were strongly advised to get a mortgage cancellation insurance policy also because we were very young and had high debt.
We cancelled it less than a year later.
I agree, creepy!
Hmmm. I feel like I got 1 or 2 of these. I remember a guy calling into infowars one day (I think) saying they worked at a massive insurance firm and had special meetings that seemed odd and out of place about coverage and things you would expect if you knew something like covid or vaccine were going to happen.
Yea if you refinanced you would get on a list. We were asked during our original mortgage signing if we wanted it and I said yes. It can help if god forbid something happens & you can’t work- even if it’s only a few months.
