My recycling has been delayed (live in NJ), due to a 'national truck driver shortage'... Can anyone explain to me why we, all the sudden, have a national truck driver shortage? What class CDL a vehicle requires is based on its tonnage and whether or not it has an attached trailer.

A Class B commercial driver's license is required to operate a single vehicle with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds, or tow a vehicle not heavier than 10,000 pounds (Source: https://driving-tests.org/cdl-classification-licenses/)

So you need a Class B commercial license to drive most industrial trucks that are NOT 18-wheelers.
