You sound much like my own children, who were removed from public school and homeschooled. Our library alone put to shame the school library, and our children were used to being able to read/study any subject without leaving home.
The school they attended was built with NO provision for a library, so a small one was carved out of locker room space. Children were allowed to read only books in their age group. Since our children read from long before school, there was no incentive to waste any more of their time, so we left.

I have never regretted our decision.
