Pointed out in this thread, "DC" is missing from:
- adbs exchange
- apple maps
- google maps
- duckduckgo maps
- openstreetmap.org
Most of us here know that District of Columbia, the City of London, and the Vatican are all city-states.. that is, they are technically independent from the countries they appear to be part of. They are considered the "unholy Trinity"
The City of London and specifically the castle has been "under renovation" since around the election, and the Vatican had some weird blackouts right after the election. Did the sovereign states / military finally dissolve DC?
do they? Not for me

Those seem to be some pretty old paper-based maps.
Maybe when they're zoomed in / out it's different? Here are the first 4 from duck image search of the entire USA, all say DC:

I don't know, I think that may be it, zoomed out it's there to differentiate between Washington state and DC but when zoomed in that differentiation isn't needed.
Right, but not anymore? At least on duck maps and openstreetmap, even when fully zoomed out there is no DC...
