I have seen the two (so far) news reporters that have reached out to Project Veritas to expose the issues they witness in which their employer is hiding information from their viewers. Are they not protected from being fired from their jobs for coming forward?

Whistleblower protection is supposedly for federal employees. Does it work? Is it enforced? That's the question.
Private corporations whistleblowers are protected when they expose something that affects the US Government. Such as Medicare fraud, or supposed pharmacy fraud, with payments coming from Medicare. Or some contract that is not being abided by with private contractor/US government.
