It's kind of a sickening thought, but i just realized that with almost certainty every state lottery, McDonalds or Pepsi sweepstakes, etc winners over a million dollars were probably all predetermined to go to families connected to the DS.

I've won a good number of times in the past few months. Here's a hint. Look at the historical Powerball winning numbers. You might see that one number gets pulled more often than any other for the Power Ball. Just getting that Power Ball number correct gets you $4. Of course, you don't get ahead unless you win the jackpot, or at least the $1,000,000 prize.
The jackpots aren't nearly as good as they appear. For example, tonight's Powerball jackpot was $63,000,000. That's the total of payments, if you took the prize as an annuity. As a lump sum, it's only $44,900,000. And then you have to pay income tax out of it, 37% federal plus state income tax if any. So here in NC, the after-tax value of that $63,000,000 jackpot is only a bit less than $26,000,000. That's a big difference.
If the lottery is your retirement plan, you just might be a redneck.
Just play for fun. It only costs $2. If you ever win, it will be totally unexpected.
