Now that is what you could call a "Cold War".
Howls, I see what you did there!
If we lost NY, I wouldn't miss it.
So we are going to war with Russia over minerals in Antarctica?
How many American and Russian lives should be spilled for...
minerals?
Should we start nuking each other's cities because we want cheaper antimony, chromium, copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, tin, uranium, and zinc?
This story is a steaming crock of shit.
Fuck off, deep state.
Not you, op. Thanks for posting this.
Howls, no problem. I understand where you are coming from. I think this beef is going down (if this article is actually a valid assertion) over the "Arctic" and not "Antarctica"...
And as to "going to war with Russia over minerals", the scum bags that make up the Deep State have sent our national treasure off to die for less tangible things i.e. idealistic political bovine excrement...Keep the faith fren!
I assumed Antarctica because that is a continent. The northern arctic doesn't have a land mass, right? Where are all the minerals at? In the ice at the north pole? And for some reason, many nations pay huge amounts of money to maintain 'research' bases in Antarctica.
Look at this hugely expensive 365/24/7 base, where everything has to be brought in by plane from many thousands of miles away:

Whoa Nelly, Katie bar the door....Just what is the purpose of that? And yes there is no land under the Arctic Ice, perhaps inside the Arctic Circle there may be some solid ground to fight over...I am unsure about what the author of the article is referring to when he wrote "In recent months Russia has made it abundantly clear that it sees the Arctic as its own and has built up its military presence in the mineral-rich region."...
