There are two trains of thought when it comes to data storage:

1. Secure private colocated server spaces (server closets) with redundant sites controlled by you.

2. Cloud based storage not owned to you, but with massive redundancy.

First, McAfee was a pretty brilliant guy. He did not store his resources in one place. He definitely stored it in one of those two places, or a combination of the two.

McAfee definitely did not trust the Deep State, that was obvious. Putting his private data on anything owned by anybody else would be a major red flag. However this crypto deployment deadman switch that is currently going makes it clear that he was smart about hiding his assets. He can definitely hide is data in plain site (so to speak) without issue. So hide it in any number cloud providers would not be beyond him so #2 is a possibility using crypto as a way to cover his tracks.

I also believe he probably had a couple of data dumps in colocated server spaces around the country if not the world paid in, you guessed it: crypto. So #1 is a possibility.

My point is this: I doubt he put his eggs in one basket. He was smart enough to have redundant storage using any number of means to make this data available, probably using both. My speculation anyways. He hated the deep state enough to do this sort of thing.
