I've said the story before, sorry if to you.

1st year engineering, first test on boolean logic was told no calculators because that's too easy.

Guy comes to me and asks for help because he can't multiply decimal numbers. Literally his example was 0.2x0.5, I helped but inside was freaking because this guy was in engineering, and now is actually practicing (nepotism and an extra year).

IIRC, his family owned a business focused on lighting designs and specs for office buildings.

Luckily, until considered professional there are multiple checkers before any commitments get made.
