They couldn't be planning to blast off into space from Johnson Space Center, could they?
"First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff are scheduled to attend Tuesday's Astros-Orioles game at Minute Maid Park, according to an announcement from The White House.
Biden and Emhoff will tour the team's COVID-19 vaccination event before staying for the 7:10 p.m. game. The Astros are offering free vaccinations from 5-8 p.m. in the Union Station Lobby."
Um, they'd have to blast off from Cape Canaveral I think. Houston is Mission Control.
You know, I think it is the case that the shuttle launched from Florida. Although I distinctly remember the Apollo missions launching from Houston.
Well, you distinctly remember wrong. There are four major launch facilities within the US and only two of them can support large vehicle launches and only one is “man rated”, the John F. Kennedy Space Center at Merritt Island, Florida. I have personally witnessed Apollo and STS launches from there. The Johnson Space Center is basically a huge (1600+ acres) industrial and office complex; it has no launch facilities.
