He ended up pleading guilty and got a whopping 12 months probation and 400 hours community service. The Judge actually had the nerve to say that losing his job and being thrust into the media spotlight was sufficient punishment for him falsifying an email which was then used as the basis for a FISA application.
His willful and intentional actions have now cast the shadow of suspicion of any thing the FBI or DoJ presents in any trial from here on out. He set a precedent of the the organization actively engaging in fraud to justify a fishing expedtion (which failed). Screw his shame and remorse, and if he was that emotionally invested in "public service" maybe he should have thought about that before betraying the public trust for political (and most likely personal) gain.
It's a freaking travesty that this jackhole isn't sitting somewhere with a felony on his record and destined to spend the rest of his life scooping ice cream at Baskin Robins or knocking out oil changes at the QuikLube.
Why is Clinesmith X'd out?
