Er, fuck-wit polio survivor:

If you contract polio before taking the vax, the vax won't help -- your body is already fighting it. If you contract polio after taking the vax the vax was no good, and again your body is doing the fighting. If you take the vax and do not contract polio, you are not a survivor, you are an avoider.
