I was told the most dangerous weapon on earth is a Marine, but the I found out the most dangerous weapon is a Second Lieutenant with a map!
True story - I was deployed to Afghanistan and overheard two Army Colonel's (one a tank guy and the other an Apache guy), debating on the most lethal weapon on the battlefield. Each Col pleaded their case for their community. One of the Col's says, "Hey Gunny - What's the most lethal thing on the battlefield, a M1A2 tank or an Apache?"
My response: "Neither. The most lethal thing on the battlefield is a bored Lance Corporal." Then I just walked away as both Col's stood there with their mouths open. Semper Fi! (for reference, a Lance Corporal is an E-3)
I NEVER allowed a Lt to have a map and compass at the same time... they could have one or the other, but never both!

Actually, counter intel figured out that the 2LT with a map (and compass, can't leave out the compass if you want the full effect) was a secret Soviet weapon embedded into our military.
Another secret: The reason the USMC has to have a L/Cpl Mafia is because of the officers. If the officers could get it done then the backchannel/black market/Milo Menderbenders of the L/Cpl Mafia wouldn't need to exist.
To give a recent example of how fucktard the officers are, the greatest, coolest, most badass MOS ever to be OS'd in the M was 0351, infantry-anti armor and demolitions assaultman. So, of course, they're getting rid of it.
Spite. Pure spite. The officers are just jealous because there's nothing anywhere near as cool for them to do, so they have to take it away from the enlisted's too.
