Yes, if you look up on Vitamin C deficiency, bleeding issues are one of the flags. Nose bleeds, excessively bleeding cuts etc. That surprised me I was unaware of that. There are also other clues, patches of 'chicken skin', sort of raised bumpy patches on the skin.
I had a small patch on my forearm which I assumed was from resting it on the chair arm at my computer all day (I'm self employed web designer and don't watch TV so I spend both work and leisure time on computer). However that cleared up after the Vit C (not totally but it is way smoother and normal than it was.
Same with a rough patch on my leg, although that is proving difficult to shift. Even had a tiny patch on my face which I put down to age and not moisturizing enough. That's still there but not as bad (and only really noticeable because I know it's there).
Hair is another clue. Hair on head and leg gets kinda 'kinked' and breaks off easily. I thought that was some post menopausal thing so ignored it. When I saw it was another thing associated with Vic C deficiency I was well shit, all these years wracking me brains to fix it and all I had to do was increase Vit C. But yeah, reading about it and the description of low level scurvy, it's pretty serious and effects the heart and eventually if not treated wll I guess it could kill you (remember people used to die from scurvy) Deficiency as 'low level' scurvy may take much longer but it is wrecking the health.
Go slowly if using Vit C, you can try the buffered one, but they are expensive. I just get the powder. You can take more of it the more deficient you are. It's basically taken to bowel tolerance. Strangely enough if I drink a large glass of orange juice I will get the runs but that didn't happen with the Vit C powder (plain ascorbic acid) at first. I couldn't take it during a meal else I would get the runs, for me I was able to take it half an hour before a meal or an hour after. Others handle it better with a small meal.
I'll go find a very enlightening site with some holistic doctors treating all kinds of diseases with mega doses of Vit C that gave me the courage to try such high doses. Obviously taking prescription drugs you'll need to take extra care, but I'd definitely think about upping your Vit C (and maybe add L-Lysine with it to strengthen blood vessels)
