To be fair, Catholics are not the only ones who do this:
Today most āmainlineā denominations, including Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists, Presbyterians and others allow for the āimpositionā (as called in Catholic and Episcopalian prayer books) of ashes during an Ash Wednesday service.
It was also a roman custom to mark slaves or political affiliates with marks and tattoos in the forehead or hand. In my opinion we worry too much about a literal mark of the beast, while forgetting that it could also be a spiritual and moral adherence to anti-christian ideologies (head/brain) and works (right hand, the one that you write and shake hands to seal business deals)
and history repeats itself, we are going through something very similar right now. to say that it already happened is a catholic teaching. who do you think the false prophet is in revelation? "decked in scarlet and purple" the pope! actually read your bibles people.
That happened in Israel enforced by Nero.
The mark was a smudge of ash from the alter to Nero, their 'God Emperor' iir.
The Jews has to smudge it on their forehead in order to enter the market, or else be killed.
It showed allegirnce and ackowledgement that HE was their god.
The image was the statue itself.
The ash is carbon.
Carbon is 6 protons, 6 electrons and 6 neurtrons.
Or 666.
We are also made of carbon, so in a sense we all have 666, since we live in a 3d matrix (womb)
666 is also Nero Caesar in gematria, which the jews were WELL aware of...
"The mark was a smudge of ash from the alter to Nero, their 'God Emperor' iir.

Rather curious, then, that certain groups of Christians smudge ashes on their foreheads for Ash Wednesday. Just an observation...
catholics do that NOT christians just to be clear

youre prob right, ive just never heard or seen any other religion do it in my lifetime
I think most people know that ??
Interesting. I didn't even know that.
I know a good amount about Christian / jewish / Roman history, but I actually never thought about ash Wednesday.
Makes me think that wednesday / odins day
And the one eye, ash on forehead indicating black / blind eye ( third eye blind)
And the ability to think for yourself is the third eye open ( if thine eye be single, etc)
Thanks!
Interesting take on that. Definitely food for thought.
This is very interesting too. Sort of goes without saying which one, some follow blindly whatever the 'leader' says.

You nailed it.
It's a mentality. Thought process. 'Worship'
Like how we call the mindless drones 'NPCs'
And more over, the mark/seal of God is talked about more than the mark of the beast.
Also in the forehead, but not the hand. So ppl are sealed NOT for action, but for the ability of 'free thought' or 'think for themselves'...
good comments made here!
It is both. Read Revleations 13/17 over and over again.
good observation :)
Very possible. U/alphaliberal
Very interesting information. I did not know all that! Thanks :)

Only royals wore purple because it was EXTREMELY expensive aa it was hand sourced from little sea creatures. Some kind of clam iir.
The royalty wore it back then
uh huh and who wears it today?
Many people. Purple isnt at all exclusive. It's as cheap as any color.
Think about the audience it was written TO
Ash Wednesday.....
