Probably equipped with lead acid batteries.

Yes, maybe they are lead acid. They could also be NiMH or nickel iron or something else.

I had two lead-acid EVs years ago. They were great for short distances. I could recycle the batteries at end-of-life so there was no excessive pollution from battery disposal. These EVs were home made. They only had a 25 mile range.
