I think you're a bit correct, actually. He's very technical in that he loves tech, so it'd kinda make sense for him to be there, I think. He's also pretty well regarded in the techy space.

Personally, I wouldn't trust anyone in the tech space right now. I used to frequent Hacker News back in the day... that place is pretty swampy. I remember the liberal tech lorts pushed one of the big Mozilla guys out just because he wasn't supporting their gay agenda.
