It's because WW2 didn't go exactly as you learned it did, or at all really.

Remember that they tortured "confessions" out of German soldiers.

There were no rollercoasters of death like they claimed. There was no gas chambers disguised as showers. There were no steel plate floors used for mass electrocutions. There were no machines that masturbated you to death. They didn't make skin lamps.
