If churches can start small schools during the week in some of these low income neighborhoods that would help so much

FWIW the church was a mainstay in education health and charity back in the day. They bridged the gap the government left. Make of that want you will.

Yes. When I was a kid in rural NM there was the crappy public school and the good school the Franciscan monks ran. But it cost even then.
