I’m sorry, you are implying that I have ignored something Jesus has commanded? Well perhaps, for I am fallen and do sin daily - but I’m trying to be better.
Ignoring? I mean, I doubt you're ignoring it out of spite or anything like that. Moreso from a place of "Catholic bad, Jesus good" because you've been lied to about Catholic theology.
When presented with sound arguments from the Bible and your only refutation is "JESUS ONLY!" when Jesus clearly said these words himself...yeah that's kind of veering into ignoring the Lord's words.
From the Lord's mouth:
Even though all 12 disciples are gathered together for this meeting, Jesus says these things only to St. Peter.
Peter’s authority comes precisely from Jesus Christ, as Matthew 16 shows. It’s quite obvious, therefore, that if Jesus is the one who established these things in Peter, then what’s set up in Peter is not a foundation other than of Christ. It’s the very foundation of Christ.
OBJECTION: PETER COULDN’T BE THE ROCK BECAUSE JESUS IS THE ONLY FOUNDATION
1 Corinthians 3:11- “For other foundation no man can lay, but that which is laid; which is Christ Jesus.”
Those who raise this objection fail to realize that the Bible speaks of all the Apostles as foundations.
Revelation 21:14- “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.”
So, the fact that Christ is the foundation or the cornerstone, as we read in Ephesians 2:20, does not mean that Christ Himself could not or did not establish one apostle to have a perpetual office which would be the rock upon which the Church would be built. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive. For example: Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:14), but He also gives the responsibility of shepherding all His sheep to Peter, as we will see in John 21:15-17. Jesus is the one with the keys (Rev. 1:18; Rev. 3:7), but He gives His keys to Peter.
Jesus gathers His disciples and gives the keys of the Kingdom to Peter alone. He then gives to Peter alone the power to bind and loose.
“And I will give unto thee [Peter] the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven...” (Matthew 16:19)
The fact that Christ is the only foundation, as 1 Cor. 3:11 teaches, simply means that everything comes from Christ. All true authority in the Church must come from Christ because the Church itself comes from Christ. Anything outside of Christ is a false foundation.
Even Martin Luther was never against the concept of the apostolic succession! It's a modern heresy to reject apostolic succession. There's a brand of internet truther Christian that rejects all authority and apostolic succession. That would have been absurd a few hundred years ago. Ah, modernity!
Yes we can agree Christ is the rock and we are His church, or His bride for when He returns. Be ready for the day and be glad, pray for it and as the parable tells you have your lamps filled with oil.
Friend, perhaps you are a minority or from a minority congregation in the Catholic Church, as you seem to be somewhat competent in the Word. However, you cannot deny that as a whole the Catholic Church does not advocate Bible reading/small groups/ evangelism by its members focusing on the sole act of grace and redemption being that of Jesus, the lamb foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament. Had the Jews known their Bible they would have known that it accurately predicted ‘to the day’ when the Messiah would enter Jerusalem.
I am a product of the Catholic Church, and maybe from a bad example - nonetheless, Jesus saved me and opened up my eyes to the truth. I only pray many others will receive my blessings and find true peace and truth from Gods word, not from any man.
That's all I used.
I used to be like you. I've made similar arguments (as you) before understanding the Catholic theology. I've been alllllllllll over the theological world of arguments. I made my rounds and tried really hard to be intellectually honest with myself.
The Freemasonic infiltration did a number on the Church and the laity.
That's actually how I became interested in Catholicism.

I'm an adult convert after learning about the Freemasons dedication to destroying the Church. Why are they so fixated on the Catholic faith? That was strange and interesting to me so I decided to find out more. Satan goes where the REAL power is. You will never hear about Satanists stealing Methodist grape juice and croutons.
Godspeed, anon.
You too Anon. Funny you never mentioned the Jesuits.......what a ripe history of politicians and world leaders coming from that background. 😁. All things are aligning themselves against those who love the Lord and those things He loves most.
We are promised but two things - and it’s not death and taxes. It’s Eternal life with our Lord and Savior, but first persecution here. Our time is coming swiftly; do not deny His name but to save yourself and for what? To lose the life He has promised us. Always remember, if you deny His name he will denying knowing you before the Father in Heaven.
May God bless you Anon!
