I had jury duty. I was expecting some covid fuckery with the court. I wasn't wrong.
Originally, when I received my summons, there was a paper describing some covid rules. Typical things, like taking your temp with a hand scanner, social distancing, masks, etc.
So here's the fuckery:
They asked us to swear to abide by the rules of the court once everyone was settled in. After doing so, they went into covid rules, like:
"Vaccinated dont have to wear masks, unvaccinated have to wear masks. We can ask for your vaccination papers at anytime, and by not wearing a mask, you are stating to the court that you are vaccinated."
So they got me. They got me not wearing a mask on camera, then putting a mask on because I'm not vaccinated, and I had to say my name and place of employment at one point during their screening.
Fuck these fuckers. I didnt even want to go because I had a feeling something like this was going to take place.
Side note: We weren't allowed to have cell phones. However, the prosecutor had a cell phone and told us that he is simply making plans because of his busy family.
As you're vetting jurors? Yea right.
So we give you our name, place of work, and hobbies, and Im simply supposed to trust that you ARENT trying to look us up on Facebook? Or any other government database for that reason?
There should be a straight up law about having Facebook, or any social media access in court. It should be blocked off their network.
Shit! I was to serve in June and just didn't want to wear a mask. I made up some lame-ass excuse that was readily accepted but was informed I would be re-summoned to appear in 6 months...in December.
And, yep, I will have an issue, because I reside in a state with an asshole governor - PA. Once my next summons is received, I will call again to opt out if masks are an issue and state that I refuse to provide vaccination information.
The problem was that none of this was stated in their original paper sent in the mail, they had covid rules, which seemed preliminary (dont touch surfaces, stand 6ft apart, etc)
Then when I got to court, they made me swear I would abide by the courts rules, and then they laid the vaccine BS rules that werent listed from the document in the mail.
Thanks. Good to know. What if I raise the question by calling the Court once summons is received and letting them know if there is any chance, no matter how remote, that vax info will be required, I will not provide it?
I think you'd be better off double checking to see if you qualify for a medical exemption.
That was a thought of mine as well. Much safer, I'm sure.
