Out soldiers have training, they take an oath and their capabilities are unquestioned. They also undergo psychiatric screening and take an ASVAB before being admitted. When you are trained in using a weapon, you respect that weapon. And not all who apply are accepted. There are limits
As opposed to anyone over 18 gets a pistol
I would bet that a certain percentage of gangbangers are under 21. They have constraints on getting handguns now. Those will be gone.
I see chaos coming
Look at Chicago or any other "gun control" city and you have the highest crime rates and gun deaths. Gun control laws only make it harder for law abiding citizens and mentally stable people to get guns for personal protection. Laws don't affect criminals as criminals are already fine with breaking the law. That's why they are called criminals.
I don't want mentally unstable people to use guns either, but they are a very small minority compared to law abiding citizens.
The gang bangers you describe are not mentally unstable. They are fully committed to gang banging. This is a cultural issue more than anything. People are desensitized to violence thanks to movies, video games, music, and culture. These people also do not value life. They just don't care. The vast majority of these people are inner city youth. Democrat corruption of our urban centers has destroyed their lives.
My perspective may be rooted in my upbringing though. I grew up rural. Took Hunter safety at 13. Many of us belonged to gun clubs and learned gun safety and respect for firearms. Half our high school had shotguns in our car trunks because we would hunt ducks and small game before and after school. Our gas stations had gas, milk, eggs, bread, guns, and ammo.
We all respected guns and we understood their danger. We also put food on the table, mounts on the wall, and had some of the most fun in nature you could ever imagine.
I am in favor of hunter's education and training for owning firearms. Maybe that is some middle ground.
Keep in mind though, the 2nd Amendment was not put into Constitutional Law for hunting purposes. It was assumed everyone hunted in 1776 for food to survive. The 2nd Amendment is for one reason, to put a check on an overbearing government. It's to make our government think twice before they force us to do what they want.
We The People own this country and the government works for us.
We agree on everything.
Ideologically I agree with every sentence you wrote. We have similar backgrounds. Grew up in a farming community in the mid-west. Shotguns and rifles were common in trucks and back seats in High School
Itβs the sad reality of the depravity of our society that scares me. Technically we should all be allowed to buy full auto weapons too. They function exactly the same as our founding fathers rifles, just technologically advanced.
