It is possible that from that event and the likely subsequent surgery, he has intestinal blockage. My dad had a kidney removed due to cancer back in the 80s. Nowadays that surgery is arthroscopic, but back then, it was major abdominal surgery. He has a foot long scar across and down his left side. About 15 years ago, he started having abdominal pain. When you have surgery like he did, the chances of the small intestine getting twisted and causing a blockage increase and they have to go back in and un-twist it. Dad's doctor mentioned a likely uptick in younger women with the same issue as a result of the increase in the number of c-section births. I do know one woman who had the same issue and her son was born via c-section.
had the same 6 years ago now and I still had the open surgery here in the uk due to location of the cancer in the kidney needing a partial removal. messed up that area of my body real good still feel something poking out from my insides by that scar if I twist too far suddenly and have to hold my side for 5 minutes until it calms down and goes back in
