I also find it interesting that most of the really entrenched “Satanic” music, Black Metal, Death Metal, etc, most bands aren’t that big or popular. Sure you have the Metallica and Mercyful Fate and others, but you would think that the bands that have real Satanic imagery and whatnot would be totally mainstream. This leads me to believe that these bands are more than likely warning us of the enemy and not so much about worshipping him. I listen to a lot of Black Metal, Stoner/Doom Metal and sheeit like that, among so much other stuff; but Metal is really where I find deep thought provoking stasis of meditation at times. I've been playing in bands for decades. I've heard some stories but also seen completely unremarkable bands suddenly become famous. There is definitely a wall blocking the jump to the next level for consistent working bands. My anecdotal experiences are that the bands I've seen that meteoric rise, the artists themselves are more narcissistic then most in a field filled with narcissist's
I think those are the ones approached because they would be most likely to do anything for fame or success. They intentionally approach the mediocre talent since the filter isn't talent, but how easy it is to corrupt so they will toe the line. I think that your take is onto something. Black magic always likes to sacrifice the brightest souls
