Yes, in the book, "The Mozart Effect", a mall was trying to decrease crime and changed their background music to Mozart and classical music and that shifted the crime rate. It has to do with consonance and dissonance in the harmonies as well as the basic tuning note. I am a pianist but when I listen to music I like to focus on a melody line with the harmonies adding color but when I play I love the harmonies created which incorporate the melody line. Obviously I prefer music that isn't just a cacophony of sounds. I thinks we are meant to enjoy the constant harmonies of the universe because that helps to balance us and bring us in tune to the universe, whereas dissonance does bring us dis-harmony and dis-ease.
