Yep. And Morgoth figuratively represents Lucifer.

LoTR lore parallels Judeo-Christian mythos very closely in many areas. Tolkien wrote and discussed this with Lewis if memory serves me.

Very interesting (and geeky) rabbit hole. Anyone interested in researching more on Tolkien's works but doesn't have the patience or time to read the Simillirion should check out Men of the West YouTube channel. Very good synopsis and actual readings from Tolkien's various works.
