Reminds me of Twin Peaks The Return episode 8, which is somewhat of a notorious episode because of its surrealism and symbolism. One part of the ep is a flashback to 1956 where dark forces take over a radio station in order to use the airwaves to poison the people with fear.
David Lynch’s Dune received some criticism for when he changed Frank Herbert’s ‘weirding way’ from a Bene Gesserit martial art to an Atreides sonic weapon system with “weirding modules”. Lynch seems pretty tuned in to the potential of sound waves affecting humans.
