I think it’s a thankless, exasperating time-suck - I’m regularly genuinely grateful for all the mods’ efforts. That said, I’ll admit SpeakEasy is the first mod I haven’t been sorry to see depart - I remain grateful for his time and effort like the others’, and I honestly think he had the site’s best interests in mind, but I also believe he exhibited some lingering hostility or malicious inclinations that seemed ultimately incompatible with moderation.
I regret speaking less than favorably about someone who’s no longer here; he certainly contributed a lot of himself to this site. But I had a handful of interactions with him, and a few public episodes like that last one, that just reinforced a “wow! really? yikes!” sense for me.
I’ll volunteer to be the ahole here for spewing my vaguely worded issues with the departed, but I did want to at least share my perspective. Sill, best wishes to him, for sure, though.
I’ve been wondering the same. I’m hoping it’s a simple well, things are opening back up. Time to focus on their own stuff now.
