100 milliliters per square meter in just one night. Very rare.
The size of the area is also important. All that water will move downstream along the Rhine and the Waal.
The precipitation in the Ardennes (Belgium) will flow through the Maas.
@ Waal: Nijmegen know quite a shap turn, but a "Room for Water" project has made it easier to flow.
Before this sharp turn, the Rhine will bend to the north to Arnhem, and then bend east and the IJssel will get's it's deal to manage.
In the last 10-20 years more than 40 projects have commenced to manage a higher rate of precipitation. Let's hope the dikes and water spill / containing areas will be working as calculated.
