Yes. CIA ran the mujahideen... But for Pompeo to say what he did points to the 7th cavalry or 4th infantry being in Afghan between 1986 and 1991...

We have been in Afghanistan since the USSR was there back in the 1980's. Official military involvement didn't happen till after 9/11, 20 years later.
