We in the developed world could stand to learn from this (and most people on this forum already have). If we remain silent they will take all our rights and in the end, our lives. Better to speak out and push back against this insanity right now rather than wait until things get even worse at which point everything will be taken from us and our ability to resist will be much reduced.

I do think there places where we are making progress (mostly in America but there are the sporadic protests in Europe too that give me hope). We have to keep applying the pressure wherever we can.
