If you're feeling as if the world has seemed extreme and intense, you've begun to notice, we are at war.
A war without bullets, borders, tanks or bombs. But it's battles rage almost constantly in front of your eyes.
You were conscripted into this war without your knowledge or consent, but you signed up, filled out your profile, and agreed to the terms, probably without reading them.
Every age has it's wars, our war matches our age. A war of information; stories, opinions, narratives; a war to establish the "truth".
The battlegrounds aren't mountains or plains or oceans, they're websites, forums, and cell phones. Notice this war unfolding on every screen, where people gather, and in your own mind.
In this asymmetrical information war, you are at all times a civilian, a soldier, a target and an objective. Notice soldiers everywhere working 24/7 to conscript, train, and convince you. They are using the most powerful technology and our most sacred instituions; without our consent or oversight.
In this war for truth, words are weapons. Words like "misinformation", "conspiracy", "baseless", "debunked", "fact-check"; assaults on the nature of truth itself.
There are 2 possible outcomes to this war.
In one, truth is centralized. It's decided upon by an elite few who can silence dissent. This can be overt weapons of deplatforming, censoring, shadowbanning and editing. Or it can be covert by mocking, gaslighting, and simulating consensus. In this future, truth doesn't need to be proven, just repeated. If a truth is undesirable to the deciders, it can be buried.
In the other future, truth is decentralized. It's decided upon by a measured consensus of minds verifying, auditing and debating. If a truth can't be proven, it's soundly rejected by the majority. If it stands up to scrutiny, it's established, despite it's inconvenience or social consequences. When nothing is silenced, we can hear for ourselves and evaluate.
Everytime you assert or share a truth, you're choosing and supporting a side of this war. You're creating one of these possible futures.
Before 2020, this was a cold war. Now, it's gone hot. Quite hot. Notice how divded we're becoming; anti/pro, identity, tribe. We're weak when we're in factions. We're stronger as one.
You are armed with only your discernment. It's incumbent on everyone in this war to think critically and seperate the facts from fiction.Lies ususally make you feel angry and afraid of the people around you. Lies appear suddenly and travel quickly, truth takes time to come out. Lies divide us, truth brings us together.
Like all wars, the consequences won't be just for the present generation, but the generations to come. And like soldiers in previous wars, we can't fail them.
Welcome to the war, it's near it's conclusion, but there are significant battles incoming.
Choose your sides carefully, train your discernment, and I'll see you on the battlefield.
Agreed WE are at WAR...people die in WARS as well. This is pointed to the "JAB" crowd and what Trump should OR should NOT have done or Said. Loved the "You were conscripted into this war without your knowledge or consent, but you signed up, filled out your profile, and agreed to the terms, probably without reading them."
