My guess is they tested it in preparation for tonight before McAfee's gates of hell opening. If DNS goes down you can still get to websites via direct IP. You can manually redirect DNS to other servers or build a host file with your favorite websites and use that. I really think this is the real deal and they're going to bring down the entire internet to try and stop it.
Not a tech guy, by no means, but I remember something about all the IP's that were transferred to some firm/place in Florida..?? Would that support a new system of the internet?
