On one hand I don't fault her for being brainwashed.

On the other hand, being brainwashed isn't an excuse for being a bitch to family and/or cutting them off just because they disagree with you. A lot of the cultists alienate family over this crap and I would say that is a valid reason to be an asshole to them.
