Supposedly it was to avoid the horrible racism of saying 'the indian variant'. Which hasn't been a problem for the centuries of 'the spanish flu' being in the lexicon. But as soon as you start to say 'china virus' suddenly the puppet shills all assemble and start whining. A CCP operation for a certainty in that it was perfect to draw attention away from china.
